TitleExtended Vision - Harmonic Growth, by Anna Campbell Bliss
ArtistBliss, Anna Campbell
DescriptionExtended Vision is a response to a nation-wide call for art for a "house of mathematics." These three panels are part of a multi-faceted work of 100 panels extending throughout the mathematics building at the University of Utah. The mural develops structural connections with the arts, sciences and culture while conveying the range and beauty of mathematics. Much of the work was developed with the help of the computer and incorporates mixed media. The plates were screened, laser etched and in some instances hand painted. Plate 26, "Harmonic Growth, " is influenced by Islamic Geometric designs. Plate 27, "FASS dwg. w/ figure ground reversal". The FASS curve was programmed on the computer and then converted to a figure ground reversal. FASS is an acronym for space-filling, self avoiding, simple & self similar.
MediumScreen printing and laser etching on anodyzed aluminum panels, 18" X 18"
