Description
Pictured is the Utah State Hospital Castle . The Castle is a recreation facility that was built in the 1930's by the Works Progress Administration (WPA) . It was built as a recreational facility for patients at the Utah State Mental Hospital and is located on the hill behind the State Hospital in Provo . It was selected as United States Register of Historic Places in 1986 . This picture shows the Castle under construction around 1936 . It was built of stone quarried in Hobble Creek Canyon .
