The student newspaper for Utah Valley University has been published under a number of different names, each reflecting the status of the school at that particular time. The UTTI Scope is the earliest title found to date, and the single issue available here was published on December 01, 1966. The name of the school at that time was Utah Trade and Technical Institute, or UTTI.
Tradewinds became the title of the student newspaper when the school changed names to Utah Technical College at Provo, and ran from December 14, 1971 to November 15, 1984. By then, the school had opened its Orem campus as well, and was thus known as Utah Technical College at Provo/Orem.
The next run of the student paper was called Tradewinds: The Press, from November 26, 1984 to January 31, 1985. The title changed again to the UTC Press, which ran from February 07, 1985 to June 01 1987.
With the move to community college status as Utah Valley Community College, the title of the student newspaper also changed, this time to the UVCC College Times. This title lasted from September 28, 1987 until June 23, 1993, when another big change came, this one moving the community college to a state college. As Utah Valley State College, the school paper changed titles to the UVSC College Times.
The ultimate change came in June of 2008, when the school achieved university status as Utah Valley University. Thus, the student newspaper now has a title that reflects that status--the UVU Review.
