Pugh has been selected as the speaker for the upcoming Graduation exercises on May 31 at 6 p.m. Mr. Pugh has been a member of the Utah State Senate from 1967 to the present and hails from Salt Lake City. He has been a good friend to the College since serving as Chairman of the Education Subcommittee.Other positions Senator Pugh has held include Legislative Management Committee, President of the Utah Senate, Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, and currently he is serving as chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee.He is a prominent businessman, serving as Chairman of Cummins Inter-mountain Diesel Sales Com pany, President of the Industrial Development and Sales Corporation and a Director 5 3 y ) i l A- I - f j T i Camille Spencer left gives awards to Sharon Saunders. He has also served in numerous civic and religious positions such as Chairman of the Utah Highway Users Conference, a member of the University of Utah National Advisory Council, a member of the Board of Trustees for the Utah Foundation and a member of the Board of Directors for the L.D.S. Hospital Board. Other positions include a member of the Board of Trustees for Intermountain Health Care, Inc., and Treasurer for the Utah Motor Transport Association. He is an active member of the L.D.S. Church and is presently a member of the General Church Finance Committee.He is married to the former Leta Curtis. He is the father of three children and eighteen grandchildren. J, rry ' K r, V Senator Warren Pugh will be featured as the graduation exercises speaker May 31 at 6 p.m.. The exercises will be held out of doors between the Student Center and the LRC. Sharon Saunders to be at Wtio's Wlw Competion By Terfa Ayegh Sharon Saunders, President of Rho Lambda Chapter of PBL at U.T.C.Orcm will represent the state of Utah at the National Phi Beta Lambda conference in New Orleans starting July 5 - 8. Ms. Saunders wa given this honor from among 300 members of PBL in the state at the recently held Phi Beta Lambda conference at the University of Utah. Her achievement was mainly on her commitment to carry out her responsibilities as President of Rho Lambda i. f ti, . ... i 1 Chapter for two years, in addition to her excellent service as a state reporter. Sharon submitted a resume and attended interviews during the competition conducted by members of the alumni, among whom were Joseph Gonzales, Western region National Vice President, who came from Oregon state to attend the conference.Ms. Saunders is a Management major from North Carolina, and will be graduating in May at U.T.C. at Conference Utah Technical College Orem carried home several honors from the recent State Leadership Conference of Phi Beta Lambda at Utah State University on April 27 and 28. Commitment to promoting and preserving our American Enterprise System resulted in being awarded first place in the following events: Amoco Award of Achievement in Business Advocacy, $100 cash award: Most Outstanding Project, $25 cash award; Best Annual Chapter's Activities Report, Gold Seal Chapter, and Outstanding Chapter. The projects entered in those competitions will represent the State of Utah at the National Competitions in New Orleans on July 5-8. In individual events Bunnie Stevenson, an Accounting major, placed first in Data Processing II. Dell Jorgensen, also an Accounting major, placed third in that event. Lana Putman and Kelly Ward placed second in their events of Business Communications and Future Business Executive, respectively. The chapter scrap-book also placed s-cond. Five members of the Parliamentary Team presented an excellent performance of parliamentary procedure and placed third in the event. Members of that team were Debbie Fischer, SusAnn Boardman, Nancy Pitcher, Bun- Tradeivinds Positions Positions Open For Next Year Applications are now being accepted for positions on the Tradewinds Editorial staff for 1979-80. Positions open include Editor-in-Chief, Photography Editor and Business Manager. All Positions receive a tuition waive plus a salary or commission. Only full-time students with a 2.5 GPA should apply. Students chosen for these positions must be planning to spend the year at UTC. Qualifications for theEditor-in-Chief position include a knowledge of journalism, editing and writing skills, and some layout experience. Sharon Saunders, chapter president, was awarded the honor of being chosen to represent the state of Utah in New Orleans as Utah's member of Who's Who in Phi Beta Lambda. Mrs. Karen Thorn, Administrative Assistant to Jake Garn, and Rho Lambda's entry for businessperson of the year was chosen to represent the state of Utah at the National Leadership Conference in New Orleans. Mrs. Thorn has contributed to the understanding of PBL members concerning the American Enterprise System.Friday evening the chapter volleyball team vied for championship among the northern teams and won. They lost to SUSC for the tournament trophy. Camille Spencer, President of the FBLA-PBL Alumni Division in the state of Utah, and paraprofessional in Office Education, presided over special Alumni meetings. Members of the Alumni Division conducted the competitions for Who's Who. Phi Beta Lambda is a national organization for college students majoring in Accounting, Data Processing, Office Education, Management, and Business Education. National Headquarters are in Washington, D.C. position, a student must have a very thorough knowledge of darkroom concepts and picture taking. Resumes will be requested for both of these positions. The Business Manager is responsible for selling advertisements, billing, and bookkeeping. Persons with sales experience and a knowledge of bookkeeping would be most acceptable for this position.Submit applications to either the information desk on the Orem Campus or the Student Services Offices.
