1 Volume 1 1 Number 3 OFFICIAL NEWSPAPER OF UTAH TECHNICAL COLLEGE AT PROVOOREM ADDRESS 1395 NORTH 150 EAST OREM 84057 October 11, 1982 UTC Wins Rodleo Competition By Joe Humphries UTC Rodeo team took a giant step toward the national finals in Bozeman, Montana by sweeping up in the rodeo that they hosted this past weekend It was a very exciting rodeo, packed with plenty of action and excitement The arena was in excellent condition and the UTC team took good advantage of it, holding the upper hand in many of the events. The team roping was taken by Kimball Curtis and Mike Hehling, who took first place. Brad Thacker and Alex Clyde, also in team roping, took third place. Calf roping was also dominated by the UTC team, with Alex Clyde and Kimball Curtis taking 2nd and 3rd places. Kimball Curtis also ran away with 2nd place in steer wrestling. Kim Lyman who took 2nd in Bullriding, and 4 th in bareback riding, was also a very important part in helping the team take 1st place in the men's over all standings. In the girls events, UTC also stood out from the rest of the teams. Robyn Christiansen dominated the barrel racing by taking 1st place in tha t event. Photo by John Pack. spirit", said Steve Trane, "They work well together to support the team as well as the school. They did very well to win against the 10 schools that attended the Rodeo. To do well against two year schools is great but to beat four year schools is much better. " Both coaches are very confident that this team will take part in the, National Rodeo Finals in June. Also at the rodeo putting on their own show in between rodeo events was the Utah Stuntmans Association. Their show was full of gunfights and fooling around. They gave the fans a real treat from Hollywood. Poor Attendance at Council Meetin By Rick Black Due to the poorly attended Student Council meeting Tuesday morning, not much of an agenda was discussed. Council members said they hoped in the near future the Student Council will come to some type of an agreeement for a favorable meeting time. Members of the UTC Student Gove nment will participate with other Studer Leadership from Wyoming, Colorado, Utal Arizona and New Mexico, making up the State Region. ims seminar programing session is designed to aid Student Government in developing personal leadership qualities including workshops dealing anywhere from running an effective meeting, which the Student Council could all use a good lesson in, to a workshop titled Monkey Management.
