EVENTS SCHOOL PLAY - APRIL 21, 22 SCHOOL PARTY - APRIL 27 - (Saratoga) MOVIE (Fox) - May 2 7f MARVIN TAUFER n ' tre held on Friday and Saturday i and DAN NELSON 0:7 School Play Highlights Parents' Day Students are asked to invite their parents to the Parents' Open House on Friday, April 21st. Also Included in the activities will be the school play. Painting and Scholarship To Be Given Marilyn Groneman, President of UTC W omen announced a drawing to kick off the annual UTC Women's Scholarship Fund. Mr. Soloimn Aranda has graciously donited na original Aranda lands'; ..)- to be given to the holder of the winning ticket. Scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student on the basis of need, reliability, and desire to continue their education; not necessarily on high scholastic achievement. The winner of the award will have satisfactorily completed one year at UTC prior to the award. Tickets will go on sale April 10th. Winner of the painting will be announced April 24. Winner of the scholarship will be announced in May. Students, this painting is worth five hundred dollars!!! Tickets will sell for one dollar donation. UTC Women need our support. We need their scholarship. I want that painting. May I be the first in line? After three weeks of looking at posters, talking to candidates, and debating as to which way to vote, the student body officer elections are complete. The three positions which the candi Uivi-.tt positions which the candidates were running for were President, Men's Vice President (MVP), and Women's Vice President (WVP). These three positions drew a total of fifteen candidates; five for President, four for MVP, and six for WVP. Of these fifteen only three cold hold office and the first round of elimination came vie the primary elections. The Primary Elections were held on March 29th and 30th. In this election some 436 votes were counted revealing that, a Hoyt , PDgudliddqgl "The Curious Savage by John Patrick, (school play) has been postponed for one week to allow it to be shown in conjunction with the Parents Day. Mr. Tanner, the director, has not been able to locate a large teddy bear nor a violin which are important props for the production. Therefore, the appeal is made to you, the studentbody, for help in locating these two items. If any of you have a large teddy bear of any color or a violin that you would loan for the production, please see Mr. Tanner in Library. The play is to be presented at 8:00 on the evenings of Friday and Saturday, April j21and22 .n the school cafeteria. While in previous years the school play has always been a melodrama, vi f LINDA YOUNG Taufer and Young mere 31.7 of the students voted. As the final results were tallied the candidates for President were Terry Hoyt and Scott Johansen; MVP candidates were Marvin Taufer and Stephen Busch, and finally competing for WVP were Linda Young and Emily Hjorten. As the final election drew near the tension gre between the candidates and campaigning became more vigorous. Then on April 6th and 7th the studentbody once again went to the polls to decide who the leaders would be for the upcoming year. Upon counting the 338 votes It was discovered that there existed an exact tie between the Presidential candidates; however, there was one vote which coiad not .be counted because it was partially mutilated. Thus it had to be this year's production is a humorous, sophisticated drama. It concerns the lives of the inmates at "The Cloisters, a sanitarium. Playing the title role of Mrs. Ethel P. Savage, a rich widow who has been committedby her children, is Beverly Morrow, Her children are played by Jara-lee Mace, Dennis Peterson, and Robert Olsen. Other cast members are June Sterzenback, Barb Call, David Herbert, Brian Fitzgerald, Loma Hansen, Doug Curtis, and Edye Brumett. Since there is no admission charge this is an excellent opportunity for married students and single ones in apartments to treat their "families" to an evening of entertainment. and KEN LAW decided whether or not it was valid. Consequently this piece of paper which cold decide the elections was presented to Mr. Kearney for a decision. Mr. Kearney, being unsure as what to decide, presented the vote to the County Attorney for a ruling. The possible tie-breaking vote was then ruled invalid due to mutilation, causing aPresi-dentail run-off to be scheduled. On April 12th the run-off for President Was held and the poles again drew only 22.5 of the students. After counting the votes Terry Hoyt was announced the victor by only 20 votes. His colleagues for next year are Marvin Taufer (MVP) and Linda Young (WVP). Good luch, new officers. Steve Peol
