Rampton will be a special guest and speaker at the first student activity sponsored by the Women's Vice President, Marily n Bounous. All female students are in-invited to attend a teaonThurs. September 2G from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the Faculty Lounge. Mrs. Rampton will speak briefly on the subject "Women in Todays World" at 10:00 a.m. Mrs. Rampton's elementary education was in Bozeman, Montana; Cedar City,Salt Lake City and Logan, Utah. She had what she terms "across-country college education" spending her freshman year at the University of California, sophomore and junior years at Utah State University, one semester at George Washington University, then graduation from Utah State University in June, 1936. After graduation, she worked as a secretary in Washington, D.C. Mrs. Rampton has engaged herself in raising a family and with other traditional activitieschurch work, PTA, volunteer civic work. ect Mrs. Rampton has served as a member on the Board of Drugs, Ballet West, and Museum of Natural History. She has served as Honorary Chairman for the Children's Center, and the Heritage Foundation. RAMPTON President Pushes Participation... Welcome to Utah Technical College. It's the best place you could be to learn a trade or a skill in preparation for your life's work. Good instruction will be provided for you. Your teachers have been chosen because they are the best we could find in your occupation. They respect you and are anxious to share their skills so that you may have a success filled career. The teachers, the administration and staff personnel all have a great interest in you and respect you as a student. We encourage you to make the most of these opportunities and to reinforce your natural and previously developed skills to give you a firm confidence when you enter the world of work. We hope this will be one of the most exciting and profitable years thus far inyourlife. This can happen if you will actively participate in the classroom and laboratory activities and the studentbody activities which your studentbody officers have carefully planned and arranged for your enjoyment. Participation and communication are the key words for success at Utah Technical College. It is our desire for this to be a year filled with success drid happiness. VfC1 Students Plate High In national Competition San Antonio, Texas was the setting for the VICA (Vocational IndustrialClubs of America) U.S. Skill Olympics contest in which three students from UTCP won high honors. Keith Barton, Provo, won first place in the nation in El-ectrial House wiring. This would have qualified Keith for international competition in Portugal except that Keith was 10 days to old for international competition. Brant Turtle, Springville, won second place in Architectural Drafting and Gayle McKell Barton won second place in the Dental Assisting competition. 1974 - 75 Welcome to UTC! You have chosen a teriffic college to attend, and the studentbody officers will make sure you get plenty of opportunities to make cv-kj L )Caii School starts out with two activities the first week. The Boat Harbor will be the setting for a UTC welcome back to school party. There will be games, food, prizes, music and lots of good times. A dance at the Ice House on Thurs. will only cost you 50? if you have your pink registration card. Copperfield will be there and students will enjoy free pool, dance contest, and door-prizes.The rest of the year has a full schedule of activities for Wednesday, Sept. 25 Boat Harbor Party Thursday, Sept. 26 Dance at the Ice House Thursday, Sept. 26 Activity for Women Students Tea at 2:00p.m. Monday, Oct. 7 Movie This was the fourth National VICA competition UTC students have entered. In order to represent Utah Tech at the national competition the students must win at the state level competition. Last Spring this contest was held in Logan at Utah State University. Although the competition is stiff, UTC has had an exceptionally large number of stur dents participate in national skills contest. According to Gordon Moses, VICA faculty advisor, this is due to the outstanding programs and exceptional faculty found on ourcampus. Activities any student. A motor-cross race, intramural basketball and volleyball, fashion show, movies, dances, a big ski party, roller skating, chess tournament, arcnery contests, concerts and a demolition derby are just some of the activities planned. Be sure and pick up a 1974-75 Activity Calendar. It is FREE. The calendar contains a complete list of activities for the year plus poems, re-' cipies and household hints. Due to a limited availibility, pick one up today ...Tomorrow may be to late! . If there isn't an activity planned that appeals to you, you are either hard to please of a cronic complainer.
