Volume Two, Number 5 OradelDind. s TRADE WINDS January 19, 1973 Vice President Gen. Ed. Division Chairman V 7 A member of college administration students should be familiar with is Mr. Dale Peterson, our Educational Vice President. Mr. Peterson directs the educational programs in the colllege, and works with the division and department cfrairinan. He also takes responsibility for President Sorensen's duties when he is off campus. Mr. Peterson has a family of five children. Two are married, one son is finishing a Bachelor's degree at BYU, and two other daughters are now studying at the BYU, one of whom studied two years at UTC. Vice President Peterson's educational experience has been fruitful. He was awarded a Bachelor's degree from Northern Arizona University atFlaggstaff, and did graduate work at several other universities. The last ttended is the University of Utah. Mr. Peterson has had a wide variety of occupational exper-eience which has contributed greatly to making him a very versatile asset here at the school. He has been State Supervisor of Trades and Industrial Education for the State of Utah, State "'-ector of Apprenticeship, Su- Ke gets his greatest feeling of accomplishment, other than his family, from his job here at the school. He enjoys very greatly seeing young people mature and go out in the world and become successful. He also enjoys working with mechanics and woodwork. He enjoys hunting occasionally.Mr. Peterson likes working with people. One of the reasons he left industry is because of the impersonal and remote feeling of not being directly involved with people. One of his desires before he retires is to see UTC out shine all the junior coUeges in the state in athletics. Vice President Peterson is to be congratulated on the fine job he does in carrying out his responsibilities at UTC. It is hoped that students will seek him out if they need him for things he can help in within his realm of responsibility. t i J AA i w A ' 1 Mr. Dale Peterson. perintendent of Industrial Relations for Kennecott Copper. He has also filled many teaching and administrative positions at both high school and junior college levels. Mr. Grant Cook Head of the General Education War as an Aviation Electrician. Department here at U.T.C. is He received his B.S. degree in Grant Cook. The Drafting and Designing Department and the Instructional Media Center are under his supervision. Mr. Cook was born in Spring-ville, Utah to Jetta Bunker Cook and the late Heber J. Cook. He came from a family of seven sisters and brothers. Upon graduation from Springville High, he attended classes here at U.T.C. (then caUed Central Utah Vocational School). He also served in the Navy during the Korean 1961 from BYU in Physics and Mathematics. Then in 1969, he received his Masters Degree in Counseling and Guidiance also from B.Y.U. Mr. Cook has been at U.T.C. from the past 12 years, having taught classes in physics, math, and psychology. Presently he is serving on different Educational Committees here in the State of Utah. He strongly feels that U.T.C. is: "A great place to do your thing, whatever it may be, because of the variety of vocations offered.' Besides his duties here at U.T.C, Mr. Cook is presently the 1st counselor in the bishopric at tayson. His family consists of his wife, Grace Cook, four children, and a dog named Dutches". His oldest daughter Darcey Lee Cook is presently attending U.T.C, studying to become a Legal Secretary. His interest for the students is expressed, as stated: "I enjoy working with the students in any type of capacity."
