Video machines show damage of break-in. UTC ProvoOrem By Ken Wade. In the early hours of May 5, both Provo and Orem campuses were broken into sustaining heavy damage with smashed, heavy plate doors and windows, coin changing machines, cashier box in Provo Book Store, plus damage to stamp machines with the latter considered a federal offense. pus Burglarised Cafeteria Operations and employee, Wanda Bailey, arriving at work, discovered the break in on that campus. They notified Security, with Van Zomeran, Officers Steele, Marriott and Ames responding. Because of the heavy extensive damage inflicted Provo Police were notified and they sent their crime investigation team to the Provo campus. UTC Officer John Ames discovered the break-in during a routine late night check of Orem campus. He noticed the heavy plate glass door leading to the second floor game room and newspaper offices had been smashed. Investigation showed the glass in the conference room had also been broken, the coin machine vandalized, and its contents stolen. Ames notified Dick Van Zomeran, UTC Security Chief, then proceed to Provo campus, giving it a perimeter check, which proved negative. Earlv morning cafeteria workers Walla Parker, Director of Provo Financial office, cashier and evening offices had been broken into as well as the Book Store, desk drawers had been pried open, as well as a cashier box. The coin change machine had also been destroyed in an attempt to get to its cash contents. Although they were unable to open the machine, it will cost over $3000.00 in repairs for that piece of equipment alone. Entrance is believed to have been through a window in the professional truck driving area. Robbery appears to have been the motive, with estimations suggesting that the physical damage to property will far exceed any valuables or cash taken.
