Volume 10 Number 23 OFFICIALNEWSPAPER OF UTAH TECHNICAL COLLEGE AT PROVOOREM March 26-1982 Student Elections Spark Interest The Executive Council at Utah Technical College have set some important dates for all students interested in running for studentbody elections. According to Ryan Thorn, who is the ICC chairman and representative of the government committee, the offices are opened to any student who will be attending full time next year and maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.25. The government committee under the direction of Kerry Graves have set aside the following dates: March 26 - Applications 'availabie nV Student Center or Student Council Offices. April 7 - An election meeting for all candidates to be held in SCI 10 at 12:00. April 9- All applications must be turned in to the Student Center or Student Council Offices. April 14 - Campaigning begins for both parties and independants running. April 19 - Evening school voting for primary candidates. April 20 - Primary elections. April 22 - Evening school final elections. April 23 - Final elections and a dance that evening to announce the winners. We encourage each student to get involved in this year's elections. "It's a good opportunity to learn and grow as well as accept responsiblity", commented Ryan. We're looking for those students who have a strong desire to serve this great school. Elevators To Be Keyed The elevators in the Auto Trades and Trade Building will be rekeyed, on Friday, April 2nd. The elevators will be shut down and will not be in operation for as long as it takes to complete this change over. It will be done in the afternoon, after 12:00 a.m. The people that have keys to these elevators will need to make key request for a new key. Keys can be secured at the Physical Plant office on the 5th level of the Trade Bldg. ,! ' 1 X V 'its. ition seemed to have the traditional long lines, but there seemed to be plenty of classes for the students furhthcringheir education at UTC. Sorensen Given Honor PRESIDENT WILSON IV. SORENSEN Wilson W. Sorensen, President of the UTC, was presented with a "Presidential Citiation" by Rodney H. Brady, President of Weber State University. The plaque reads: "In recognition of his lifetime service in education to the State of Utah and participating particularly for his extraordinary leadership in enhancing programs for technical and vocational education and for having build over the past 40 years the Utah Technical College at Provo and Orem from the modest beginning to a major technical college serving approximately 5,000 students." Schedule of Events Friday, March 26: Baseball, UTC at College of Southern Idaho, 1 p.m. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Belushi Festival. Movies will be free to students with a current ID card and an age identification. Each student may bring a guest. Saturday, March 27: Baseball, UTC at College of Southern Idaho, 1 1 a.m.
