Volume 10 Number 25 OFFICIAL NEWSPAPER OF UTAH TECHNICAL COLLEGE AT PROVOOREM April 16, 1982 Student Elections Start with Big Ideas By Terry Evans Primary Election candidates told interested members of the studentbody Wednesday their ideas to make 1982-1983 one of the best years ever for UTC. There are four parties with no independent candidates running. The Head Party was the first to speak. The members of the party are: President Paul Head Social V.P Cauleen Kearney Executive V.P Brian Carter Financial DirectorJCenneth Howard Academic V.P. Esequiel Gonzalez Special Events Maria R.Lund According to Paul Head, presidential candidate, the parties ideas consist of better parking, especially on the Orem Campus equal representation from both Provo and Orem Campuses, more privately funded student financial aid, and improved academic standards. Next was the Competition Party. The members are: President Phillip C. Jolley Financial Director Julie Chamberlain Executive V.P.. Steve Ottesen Special Event V.P Laurel Smith Academic V.P.. .Tracy Carroll Cultural V.P Jon Hal Anderson Social V.P Jodi Walker Some of the competition ideas for next year are to save the students money by forming the already popular book exchange. They would also like more student involvement by forming a better student senate. Better communication between Provo and Orem Campus with a sub-committee from Provo are a few others of their ideas. Super Seven was the next group to speak. There members are: President Jeff Taylor Special Events V.P... . Deanna Kraft Academic V.P.Dan Nethercott Social V.P Janet Melville Executive V.P.. Dean Peterson Financial Director. . Mike Youngkeit Cultural V.P.. . . Diane Neilson Some of their ideas were a student senate and a gymnasium for the students to use. The last group to speak was the Gator Party. Their members are: President Scott T. Banasky Special Events V.P Executive V.P.Shannon Chamberlain Daryl Stevenett Social V.P Greg Flores Cultural V.P Polly King According to Scott Banasky presidential candidate, the main idea of the Gator Party is to get the community, student, and UTC involved with each other.
