FRADEWIND t 1 VOLUME 3, NUMBER 4 UTAH TECHNICAL COLLEGE OF PROVO OCTOBER 21, 1975 First Aid... UTC Has Answer By Donna may Hunt Do you feel sick? Have a headache? Don't take it out on us. Take it to the First Aid room. No, don't take it to the First Aid room because the door is locked! After taking a survey, the Tradewinds learned that four out of five of the students did not know the where abouts of the First Airt 'nom at UTC. Susan Weber, a UTC coed, said that she didn't even know the school had a First Aid room. The rumor is true! There is a First Aid room! It is located in the middle of the south wing on the south side, one door down from the Trade Winds office, S 103 B, but the door is always locked. In talking to Dr. Wayne 0. Kearney, the Dean of Students at UTC, the Tradewinds learned that the key to the room is located in the Dean of Students office and can be obtained by asking the secretary there for it. The First Aid room is equipped with a stretcher, a bed, a rest room, and an emergency first aid kit. If there is an emergency and you need to use any of this equipment, go first to the Dean of Students office and obtain the key to get in the room. The Tradewind's staff suggests that if you have any ideas on how to make our First Aid room more convenient, we would welcome your comments. , -' -v'' 1 , 11 tU' yj - ' """ ... h p ft zjrdL. .-. " r ,'rS I IS- '.I Are you willing to walk a short distance? It yes, then there is plenty of parking space. Editorial Comments Stadium Parking Proves More Practical By Perry Skerl One of the biggest topics of conversation around UTC is the problem of parking facilities. To many students this becomes a real problem, to try to make it to school before the parking lots are filled. Although, this article looks at mm i i First Aid room is equipped with modern first aid kit. both sides of this problem, you must realize that the problem is not only how to park but, where to park. At the present time, there are plenty of parking spaces, if students would be willing to walk from the BYU stadium parkig spaces. If the students would use these spaces, they are open daily, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., and are reserved for UTC students. More students should realize that the space provided BYU is really the most practical for them, considering the time you spend looking for a place to park otherwise. You could walk a little and save time. Another point which should be considered is the fact that every student normally brings his own car. If students live within walking distance, they should walk. After all, we had legs before automobiles. Also, for students parking in business lots, their cars will be towed away at the owners expense. Since UTC doesn't own the property, they are not responsible.Although, many UTC students live in different apartment buildings throughout Prove andOrem, they should make considerable effort to form car pools. These carpools would save time, money, and would very much help the parking lot problem. A better organized parking lot system should be planned. With the new school in Orem, and the increasing number of students and cars, in the long run this could be agreat benefit. If a charge for parking was considered with 3,000 students at 10? a day, this would total $300.00 daily. In the long run it would also increase the school's income. At the present time, UTC does have the proper parking spaces. A busing system should also be considered for the new school bus to run to and from school twice daily. Many would feel that the financial part of this would be to expensive. How about a charge? Many students would be willing to pay for a ride. But for the time being, with over 1,634 UTC students who have registered their cars, the three parking lots at UTC provide a place for every one. Yes, UTC does need more and far better organized parking lots in the futre. With the boom finally hitting UTC so much that it needs a new school, isn't it a fact that it also needs far better parking lots. But use the ones we have until then.
