School Begins; Registration Complete Volume 8 No. 2 Utah Technical College Executive Council Officers are from left Jeff Johnson, Social V.P., Tori Peck, Speical Events V. P., Marilyn Davis, Executive Secretary, Lee Barrus, President, Brooke Hickman, Cultural V. P., and Evan Sayer, Three Positions By Lisa Dobson Eight students are currently serving as ASUTC Executive Council Members with positions open for three more. Open positions are Robert Seal serves on the Executive Council as Financial V. P. f :. OFFICIAL NEWSPAPER OF UTAH TECHNICAL COLLEGE Executive Vice President, Public Relations Vice Pres., and Intramurals Vice Pres. According to the college constitution these positions will be filled by the Studentbody President and then ratified by the Executive Council. Some applications have been turned in and more are being accepted from qualified students by Ann Richardson, Student Center Secretary. Interviews begin Oct. 2. Lee Barrus, from Othello, Washington, is this year's studentbody president. His duties entail presiding over weekly Executive Council meetings and Government Committee meetings. He also serves as a member of the Student Center Board, the Institutional Council, and the Publications Board. He is required to know all duties assigned to each officer, fill vacancies in ' : ; " .4 k Remain the Executive Council, administrate and motivate each officer to fulfill duties, and deliver messages to and receive communication from the studentbody. Evan Sayer, from Mackey, Idaho, is the Academics Vice President. His most noteable qualification for this position is his 4.0 G.P.A. His desire in his position is to organize an effective Senate that will be an example for years to come. "I want to create a Senate that functions well with Student Officers. If students have any grievances or suggestions we want them to bring them to their Senate Representatives who will bring them to me." Mr. Sayer stated. He also supervises printing of the student handbook and student directory. In describing himself, Evan says, "I really am a Academic V. P. They are seeking qualified students to fill positions of Public Relations V. P., Intramurals V. P., and Exective Vice. Pres. Open on dull character! When I graduate I want to establish a monestary, Star Palace style and slowly go bald." Evan enjoys woodworking, horses, and cattle and hopes someday to construct his own wooden saddle. Jeff Johnson serves on the council as Social Vice President. He is a Marketing major from Ontario, Oregon who comes to UTC after attending BSU, TVCC, and BYU. The 6'l" blue-eyed blonde has been busy planning a "super active year where students can increase both their social and academic lives," says Mr. Johnson. A major goal he hopes to see materialize while in office is the production of a major rock concert. Mr. Johnson enjoys golf, tennis, and skiing, but his first love is his Lancia Beta Scorpian, a silver, black sports car. He says he is un AT PROVOOREM i-. Executive Council predictable and individualistic. Of the 1980 academic year he advises, "Be prepared for the unexpected!" Marilyn Davis, a legal secretary major from Midvale, Utah is the Executive Council Secretary. She takes charge of all minutes, agendas, and correspondances to keep the Council organized. "UTC is really a good school! The staff is very willing to help. The Council is great. The Schedule Sept. 28,29 Sept. 28 Sept. 28, 29 Oct. I Oct. 4 Oct. 5 September 28. 1979 ... people on it are very qualified and very enthusiastic. It's a lot of fun to be involved in all the activity, to be aware of what's going on." Ms. Davis commented while assisting in registration. Robert Seal is the Financial Vice President. His concern in office is to make sure that money appropriated from students is spent correctly and not over budgeted.
