i FoZ. 7iVo. 23 T.4 TECHNICAL COLLEGE AT PROVO March 26 1979 Registration: Short Lines .Medium Turnout Spring registration was lighter than fall and winter quarters, but according to preliminary reports, there appears to be more students registered in spring 1979 than in spring of 1978. Pre-registration was very light, with students mostly picking up packets one or two days after school started. "It appears the ongoing students took registration day as an extra day for vacation, and picked up their packets Wednesday and Thursday," a spokesperson said. Long lines, which have become a part of Fall and Winter registration were absent with spring registration. However, lines in the "Women in Transition" to be held April 2 and 3 "Women in Transition-Re-Cycling Your Life" is being offered April 2-3 from 8a.m. to 1p.m. in Room Bu-146 of the Orem campus. The fee is $3 and the Student Service ; Office is handling registration for the Provo campus md the Career Deve opment Center for the Orem campus. UTC to Pre sen t UTC will present its annual melodrama Tues. March 27 and Thurs. March 29 at 8p.m. in the Orem campus Student Center. The play is titled "Bertha the Beautiful Typewriter Girl." It was written by Charles George. The play is complete with heros and heroines, villans and subvillans and the audience is invited to participate in the booing, hissing, and cheering. And like all good melodramas, virtue triumphs in the end. One of the interesting 4 kratf; S I.D. pictures will be available for $1 at the Career Developement Center. bookstore for the purchase of books and supplies, appears to be very heavy. There are many activities available during spring quarter for the students. The UTC Baseball team will be playing its home games in the field northwest of the student center, most of which should be very exciting. Studentbody elections are also a big part of spring quarter, with students running flamboyant campaigns to get themselves elected. A closing social canyon party has become one of the best attended studentbody functions. The party generally features free food, plenty of games, music and fun. The workshop provides an opportunity for women students, particularly those who have undergone or are going through some changes in their life, to participate in a structured workshop to gain strengths and skills to meet the challenge of assuming responsibilities for thier contpg4. Melodram a sidelights to the play is the romance between the hero and the heroine. Lance Stark was given the part of the hero and Janet Bufford took the part of the heroine. Through the close acquaintance they had at rehersal they began dating and later became engaged. Now, Lance has had to find a job in order to marry Janet. This necessitated Lance's quitting the play and Jim Rogers has taken over the part of hero. There will be no charge to the play. -1 Shi ' f I f ' - One common agreement between students and registrars is that they are glad registration only comes once each quarter. Registration procedures give the student a chance to learn With the upcoming studentbody elections the UTC campuses should see a variety of campaign slogans and platforms not to mention the many different promises that will be given. LD. Photos Still Available thru Tues. On Tuesday, March 27, I.D. pictures will be taken from 6 to 7p.m. in the foyer of the Provo campus. This day is also the last day before late registration starts. The cost is $1. After this time, I.D. cards will be taken on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays from 10 to 12a.m. for the price of $3.00 plus your receipt card, location is on the Orem campus in the Career Development Center (across from the book- Cost to replace cards for any reason (lost, wanting r ! X j 1 1 ' "" ; , hj ' 1 i I i new card, etc.) will also cost $3.00. If you want to pay the $1.00 instead of the $3.00 late or replacement fee, get your I.D. card on March 27th and don't lose it! Some of the benefits of having an I.D. card are: free entrance into all UTC sport events, discount into UTC concerts and dances, discounts around town (Student prices at Star Palace, etc.), use of the UTC and BYU libraries, I.D. when cashing checks, student discount to BYU cultural events in the Fine Arts Center, etc. their Social Security number Schedule Melodrama March 27 Applications due for candidates March 27 - 29 Election campaigns begin APnl 5 Sadie Hawkins dance APril 9 Primary Elections APrU 19 Final Elections APril 20 Midnite movie at the Fox Theatre APrU 27 and gain experience standing in Student Elections Process Begins Students interested in running for student government offices should get their applications filled out' and submitted by March 30, according to Tom Hover, Student Center Director. Applications are available at the Student Center office, and must be submitted there. There will also be posters around campus with applications attached. There will be a meeting for all candidates on April 2 to explain rules and procedures. Campaigning begins April 9. Primary elections will be held April 20, and Final elections on the 27th. In order to run, candidates must be a full-time student of UTC-Provo with at least 12 credit hours for Spring quarter, and an accumulated GPA of 2.25. Candidates are also eligible if they received a 3.0 average in the Winter quarter. of Evcijts
