Taylor The bookstore, food services, school news paper, crafts center, game center, atheletic program and student government are things and places that affect nearly all of us on a daily basis. Because of this, plans have been made for a $2.5 million dollar student center expansion project. Tom Hoover, director of the student programs at the UTC, said that by the year 1985 the components of the student center will more than double in size and capacity. This will be complete with multipurpose rooms which would facilitate concerts, dances, and assemblies (this should allow the present lunchroom to retain its own identity). The crafts shop and bookstore are also expected to double on size. When asked why such a huge undertaking, Mr. Hoover mentioned that with the projected influx of students at the UTC within the next few years, present facilities would never be adequate. "Our atheletes or those who just like sports, don't even have an on campus gymnasium in which to play; this is a Forest Service Gives Aid By Terry Evans During this past school year, the U.S. Forest Service has been a great help to our auto-mechanic department. They are giving the opportunity to the diesel mechanic students to repair their diesel equipment. Presently there are seven pieces of equipment from the Forest Service being repaired. "Without their help,' the school wouldn't be able to buy proper equipment for the students to learn on" says Howard Carter, Instructor of the class. "This way our students get first hand experience, while saving the school and taxpayers money." According to Mr. Carter, the deisel mechanic department is pretty-well operating on its own budget.
