He insisted again that the Palestinian leadership order an immediate cease-fire and crack down on terrorist activity. Bush, at a joint news conference with British Prime Minister Tony Blair, reinforced the demand for a pullback that he first issued Thursday and bluntly declared: "I expect Israel to heed my advice." "Israel should halt incursions into Palestinian-controlled areas, and begin to withdraw without delay from those cities it has recently occupied," he said. As for the Palestinians, Bush said: "I expect for the Palestinians to reject terror. And the Arab world, as Israel steps back, we expect the Arab world to step up and lead, to lead against terror, to get into an immediate cease-fire." Despite Bush's calls for restraint, fighting spread Saturday in the West Bank and there more deaths in Gaza as well. On Iraq, Bush said he explained to Blair that the "policy of my government is the removal" of leader Saddam Hussein and that all options are on the table to achieve that. Blair agreed that world would be better off without Saddam and that how to accomplish that "is open for discussions." "I think after the 11th of September, this president showed that he proceeds in a calm and a measured and a sensible but in a firm way." Blair said, "Now that is precisely what we need in this situation, too." Both Bush and Blair stressed that Saddam has continued to develop weapons of mass destruction and had repeatedly broken promises to the world to stop. "Never forget he knows perfectly well what the international community has demanded of him over these past years and he's never done it," Blair said. As thunderstorms blew in and out across the prairies of Bush's ranch, the two leaders spoke at the gym in nearby Crawford High School. David Keller, the organizer of the Environmental Ethics Conference for the last six years and the Director for the Center of the Study of Ethics here at UVSC, shed some light on the origins of the Conference and how he got involved, "(the Conference) was invented by Elayne Englehardt fifteen years ago. She is a very forward thinking individual, and she figured it as a hot topic," commented Dr. Keller. Dr. Keller himself got involved with Environmental Ethics when he got into philosophy, "Environmentalism and Ecology are my passions. When I started doing philosophy, I realized they could go together." Utah Valley State College hosted its 15 th Annual Environmental Ethics Conference on April 2nd and April 3rd. The focus of the Conference this year was "Understanding the Human Place in Nature". One of the most notable sessions in this year's environmental conference was the Student Panel Discussion. In the Panel Discussion, UVSC students Jed Anderson, Tia Hainsworth, Jamie Holdaway, and Joey Jurgens (all Integrated Studies Majors), had the opportunity to discuss papers they had written on ethical topics. Jed Anderson, one of the Panelists, said that it was a "good experience" and that he "got to defend my point." "It was nice to have people agree with me," added panelist Jamie Holdoway when asked about her feelings towards the discussion. Elayne Englehardt, the original founder of the Conference and in the audience for the Panel Discussion, commented that having the students present their high caliber papers really helped them and gave them good experience for future work in the field and future discussions. Following the Student Panel Discussion, Luke Peterson, a Research Assistant at the Center for the Study of Ethics, gave a speech entitled "Campaign Finance Reform and the Environmental Lobby." Luke discussed his belief that the biggest problem facing the Environmental Lobby and other Progressive movements is the involvement of money in politics. He spoke about Teddy Roosevelt's attempts to fight against it in his era, and where he succeeded and where he failed. Luke believes that since it is "politically necessary to have money for a career," environmentalist lobbies would never be Net Spot 'News Politics: www.drudereport.c om A young man was caught trying to sneak explosives onto a domestic flight in Finland in the first such incident recorded in the Nordic country, police said on Friday. According to the 2002 Office Professionals Conference brochure, workshops like 'Communication Undercurrents' will stress communication skills that are important in the workplace, especially so that people are not "turned off" or made to feel incompetent. It also states that in 90 percent of all firing cases, communication skills surface as the number one cause. The conference is focused towards "office administrators, managers, secretaries and staff," said Luella Jones, coordinator of Seminars and Workshops. Believing that good communication equals business opportunities, the 2002 Office Professionals Conference will have training seminars that will help give new ideas to those attending. Door prizes and networking opportunities, or perhaps the more prominent characteristic - profes sional speakers, namely Camille Keith, Sherry Hanvard, and Lynn Taylor. Lynn Taylor , author of The Survival Guide to Etiquette, will speak on the many-sided angles of Business Etiquette, like communication, dining, downsizing, entertaining, giftsholidays, office politics, interviews, introductions, and more. Her workshop will be titled, "Present Yourself Well With Good Etiquette." Sherry Harward, of UVSC, and an entertainermotivational speaker, will present her workshop "A Dream With Your Name On It," mainly motivating audience members to actively pursue personal and professional dreams and aspirations through self-evaluation, goal setting, risk-taking, and a defined and working action plan. Keynote speaker Camille Keith will talk about Southwest Airlines' approach to customer service. Ms. Keith is currently Vice President of Special Marketing at Southwest Airlines, and is head of the marketing nationwide.
