Ratings Drop for 'Survivor' Finale Los Angeles - On Thursday night January 10 2002, the third survivor champion was crowned. That was Ethan Zohn a soccer pro from Alassachusetts. Zohn was called'a few weeks prior to the announcement, and asked to grow back the beard he had shaved once he had left Africa so that viewers who didn't know the announcement was live would be surprised. But it was CBS, not the viewers that would be surprised. CBS estimated that 27.3 million viewers tuned in to see the finale of Survivor 3. Not bad numbers, but compared to the Slmillion and 36 million viewers that tuned in to see the endings of the first two survivor programs, it certainly wasn't what CBS execs expected. Bush Signs Environment Cleanup Bill CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. - President Bush praised Democratic and Republican cooperation Friday as he signed an environmental cleanup bill that he said proves Congress can step away from political fights and as he says, "do what's right for America first" The President signed into law a five-year plan to provide up to $250 million a year to states, local governments and Indian tribes to clean up polluted industrial sites known as brownfields. The legislation also helps protect cities and businesses from lawsuits as they seek to develop brownfield sites. Many had shied away, fearing they would be held responsible for toxic waste cleanup. I Go to p. I www.netxnews.net and ff cast your vote for what UVSC can do to get U more fan support. The Career and Employment center is hosting yet again the Career Employment Fair. More than fifty employers from all over the Nation will be converging on campus to recruit new employees and interns, and more will be signing up between not and January 17th. This fair is held every semester as a service to students to give them that competitive advantage when searching for that killer internship during the summer, or landing a great after graduation."We want to facilitate an opportunity for students regardless of their year in school with prospective employers, so that they can take advantage of co-op experience, internships and full time employment." Stated Wayne Mangelson, Director of the Career and Student Employment center. Finding a job anytime is a difficult task, one must sent multiple resumes out to potential employers, and go out countless interviews where the setting is very formal and stuffy. The fair give students and employers a more casual setting to meet and discuss goals, and what each is looking for in a job and in an employee. Right now with the rate of unemployment is rising and many college graduates are finding it more and more difficult to find a job. It is important to have a competitive edge when on the market for a job. The UVSC career fair is a great way to get that edge It is recommended though that students wishing to participate in the fair do dress professionally. What does that entail? Well women should wear nice slacks, or skirt, and a blouse or sweater set, and men should come in a shirt and tie. Also students should bring copies of their resume with them to hand out.
