Adding and dropping classes, waiting in endless lines to buy books, get checks approved and obtain parking stickers. All these necessary events often take presidence over other fun oriented events. Did you know that last week was Western Week? The weeks events began Wednesday with a free lunch. The lunch consisted of hot dogs, potatoe chips, potatoe salad, drinks, and watermelon. Those who took advantage of the offer, enjoyed the eats. Thursday was the day set aside for all UTC students to dress in their best western garb. Generally speaking, though, only those who normally dress western showed up in their western wear. Friday things really started to pick up with a dance that evening at the Orem Campus Student Center. Full House was the band (not the crowd). Friday also marked the start of the Western Week highlight. UTC sponsored the 1st Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Rodeo of the season contestants from eight rocky mountain schools competed. Saturday concluded the week long event term Week K . - t - - " " t ' I- - ,rm. ii i '7 ' Students enjoyed free hot dogs at cafeteria, with two sessions of the rodeo and a Bar- event. Bus Off To Slow Start The new student bus service between Orem and Provo campus has been in operation one week. Ken Norris, owner and operator of the Student Transportation Service told Tradewinds that "he will be unable to maintain the low fare if more students do not take advantage of the service. " The prepaid fare is $.35 one way, $.60 round trip, with $2.40 for ten single trips and $5.00 for 23 trips. The bus service is a convenience that students have been asking the Administration to provide. Even those students with cars find parking a problem when they have to commute between campuses. Now that Ken Norris is providing the service, it would benefit everyone to have the service become a part of UTC. " Tom Hover, Director of the Student Center "encourages students to take advantage of the convenience offered to them." Folks, when the snows fall, it will be nice to know that your transporatation problems are solved and you can leave the driving to Ken Norris. ...You want and need a bus service! You have it.. .It's up to you. " BUS SCHEDULE Leave Orem 10 minutes past each hour 8:10 a.m. to 1:10 p.m. Leave Provo 20 minutes to each hour 7:40 a.m. to 12:40 p.m. BOOK STORE HOURS First two weeks of the quarter: Provo Monday-Thursday: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m. Friday: 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. Remainder of the quarter: Monday-Thursday: 9:30 a.m. 12:30 p.m. CLOSED FRIDAYS Orem First three weeks of quarter: Monday-Thursday: 7:45 a.m. -7:30 p.m. Friday: 7:45 a.m. - 4 p.m. Remainder of quarter: Monday-Friday: 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan Norris Photo by John Pack Rodeo Queen Selected Jan Norris was chosen as 1 982-83 's Rodeo queen of U.T.C. Miss Norris is from Ceder Fort, Utah, and is a second semester transfer student from S.L.C. Tech. She is majoring in cosmotology and Business Management. Miss Norris hopes to someday manage her own beauty salon.
