OFFICIAL NEWSPAPER OF UTAH TECHNICAL COLLEGE AT PROVOOREM Volume 11 Number 1 September 27, 1982 Bus Service Begins Setweeaa Csssipuses A student bus service between Provo and Orem campus will be put into effect Monday, September 27, the first day of the new school year. Owned and operated by Ken Norris of Orem, the service will begin at Provo campus, 6:40 a.m. and continue thoughout the school day until the last departure from Provo campus at 12:40 p.m. The prepaid fare will be $.35 one way, $.60 round trip, with $2.40 for 10 single trips and 5.00 for 23. Norris said that this service will not only benefit those who have no other form of transportation, but also those who have problems finding parking space when they commute between the two campuses, He added that the new bus service will be flexible in order to facilitate student needs and he is open to suggestions which will give the best service. For further information, contact the Information Center Desk at the Student Center, extension 244 and 245. Gymnasium Construction Starts Construction of the gymnasium complex will begin soon, with bids going out by the end of October. The 25,000 ft. complex, which is financed with private funds, will have a unique design which will meet the needs of the college and maintain costs within the framework of available financing. Located in the north west section of the campus, near the baseball diamond and the Pioneer House, the expansion will be an innovative, fully equipped construction, designed for all areas of athletic activities. The gymnasium will contain a basketball court, large multi-purpose area for badmitten, wrestling, men and women's showers, rooms for lockers, uniforms and athletes training classes, faculty offices and a conference room. Projected completion will be this spring. The large complex is designed by the architectual firm of Fowler, Ferguson, Kingston and Ruben, S.L.C. They also designed the first phases of the Student Center, the Automotive building and the LRC.
