Utah Valley University Digital Collections

This collection, covering from 1992 to 2003, is comprised of six scrapbooks that were made to document the development of the Utah Valley Community College/Utah Valley State College Park City Education Center and later Wasatch Campus in Heber City. Under the direction of then UVCC/UVSC President Dr. Kerry Romesburg, the new Park City campus would be built on 20 acres east of what was then the Silver Creek Commerce Center off of U.S. 40 in Summit County. Until the new campus was ready, classes would be held in the historic old Park City High School, also known as the Carl Winters Building. Dr. Barbara von Diether, who was assistant to President Romesburg, would be the director of the new Park City Center.

But in Summer 1994, the Board of Regents decided that a new UVSC campus would not be built in Park City, but they would continue to use the Carl Winters Building and Park City Library to offer classes. UVSC did begin to offer classes in Heber City in a satellite campus, first located in a strip mall and then Wasatch High School, in 1995, and eventually built a brand new building in 2003.

The scrapbooks contains photographs, newspaper clippings from the Salt Lake Tribune, Provo Herald, Wasatch Wave, and the Park Record, course offerings and registration information, and brochures and other information about UVSC's activities in Park City and Heber City.
